Today we spent the day in Agra and visited the Taj Mahal. You probably all know it from postcards and travel guides and it is looking amazing on all of these pics. But I tell you one thing – to see it in real life is even better.
The Taj is so impressive, as we walked in I could feel the vibrant energy of this place, but at the same time it was so calm and peaceful.
The king built it for his wife as a gravesite – she died during the birth of her 14th child. The child survived, but the king was so sad about the loss of his wife that he didn’t eat for 8 days. After that he invited the best architects from all over the world. A persian architect won and had build the Taj within 17 years. It took 5 more years to complete the mosque and the gates so all in all the Taj Mahal was built in 22 years.
The white marvel shines bright like a diamond in the sun and you can’t get enough of it. The Taj is built next to a river so there was nothing more beautiful than walking around in that peaceful area and facing the Taj with all its beauty.
While we were staring at the Taj all the Indians were staring at us. They all wanted to have selfies with us and I started to ask for selfies as well and that became the biggest fun ever 😉
For the sunset we had a beautiful spot right in front of the Taj. While the sun was going down, all my thoughts and sorrows calmed down as well. India is so chaotic, noisy and dirty, but st the same time it offers you the most peaceful places in the world.
